Over the last decade or so, various governments have set norms for various automakers to follow, to reduce pollution levels. These norms are getting stricter day by day due to various environmental, economic and social factors. So much so that even a slight increase in overall emissions can attract Millions of Euros of fine! Not just this, there is even the increase of environmentalists who demand that Internal Com- bustion Engines(ICEs) to be banned. Combine these with the globally increasing gas prices, many automakers are switching over to using of other available resources as a source of fuel to run their vehicles. In this paper we shall analyse the different resources explored, the technology developed/in development in using it and what is its scope in the future. A few advantages and disadvantages(if any) for every resource are also discussed. For now, our survey focuses mainly on development in Roadways.
